Hitman 3: the last part of the trilogy will be more "mature, serious and dark"

Announced for the beginning of 2021, Hitman 3 will close the eponymous trilogy, launched in an episodic format in 2016, with a more "mature, serious and somber" tone.

This is what the studio behind the franchise, IO Interactive, announced Thursday morning in a web presentation with community developer Clemens Koch and community manager Travis Barbour.

The pair argued that if Hitman, released in 2016, had a more "professional" tone, and if the second installment, released two years later, focused a little more on exploded and entertaining content, Hitman 3 will offer a version Agent 47's more mature.

The way of delivering the story in this new adventure should also be slightly different. So, instead of using only the cutscenes to advance the storyline, Hitman 3 will integrate elements of the story directly into the gameplay. We can therefore expect a direction that will look a bit more like Absolution on this side.

However, the game will continue to offer levels in the form of huge sandboxes offering different ways to deal with its targets, confirmed Koch and Barbour.

On this subject, it will be possible - on the model of what we offered in Hitman 2 - to integrate directly into the third component the missions of the two previous titles, as well as its own progression.

Hitman 3 will be released in January 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.
